Richardson/Lake Highlands/Far North Dallas editor’s note: District readies for year with projects, new staff

I remember walking up the steps into seventh grade: I felt older and impressively more intelligent than my former sixth-grade self. The hallways hadn’t been fully aired out yet, and the smell of fresh paint surrounded me throughout the day.

Like most, there were some nerves in walking into that first classroom to see who my teacher would be and what potential friends might be in the room.

This time of the year is all about change.

Students will see that soon as school is back in session Aug. 27 for public districts. Until then, teachers and administrators are preparing for the school year with lesson plans, and parents are readying their children with clothes and school supplies.

Richardson ISD spokesman Tim Clark tells me the district has been preparing for the school year all summer.

More than 300 bond projects have been in the works in recent months. The additions of new roofs and industrial chillers, along with classroom renovations, are just some forms of change. … [visit site to read more]
